Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR)

To those whom much is given, much is expected.  --Luke 12:48

But the little guy who has been given little, likes to give as well.

There was an amazing thought provoking event on Corporate Social Responsibility hosted by Northrop Grumman with major hitters such as ExxonMobil and CapitalOne.  Listening to how these companies have structured their corporate giving and commitment to the environment was amazing and gave a sense of structure to the process.  A small business, Helios, was also represented on the panel.

As a nerd for all things government contracting, the most interesting input was that of Northrop Grumman.  Some fascination simmers to examine the CSR for all the major government contractors.  The findings may help small business contractors better structure their desire to give back to the community.

LEADS---Make A Difference

Good Shepherd Housing is an affordable housing non-profit operation in our area.  They support the communities along the Route 1 corridor and their representative, Karen Jupiter, has been highly supportive of the Government Procurement Relations Committee as well as the Mount Vernon-Lee Chamber of Commerce as a whole.  With the committee, Karen has brought in sponsor support for the C4C events, supported attendance efforts, baked and supplied committee refreshments, and suggested speakers.  Her invaluable participation has increased opportunities for the government contractors in Mount Vernon-Lee Districts.

As the selected LEADS, the goal is to focus attention on a support of interest to Karen.  She is asking for support with the Good Shepherd Housing Gala scheduled for the 14th of April.   The Gala is accepting donations, ticket purchases, items for auction, and any in-kind offerings.

Amazing Contacts & A Wealth of Knowledge

This morning the Mount Vernon Country Club was ceased by a host of business contractors making contact with the Intel community.  Twenty minutes prior to the 7:30AM registration opening, the venue had suits, ties,  briefcases and business cards facing-off as everyone made eye contact, shook hands and exchanged introductions.

The speakers arrived and networking energy grew greater as ODNI CAPT (ret) Hans Mumm and INSCOM speakers Mr. Jeffrey Willey and Mr. Robert Adams took the unclassified federal contracting procedures to a clear a comprehensible level.

It was definitive that small business can and should get involved with the Intelligence Contracting Community.  The companies present were highly encouraged and equipped with the knowledge to make the process a reality.
